Workplace Yoga

Including a yoga class in your corporate wellness program can improve productivity, decrease health care premiums and improve job satisfaction.

A corporate or workplace yoga class is 45-50 minute on-site class, usually offered once to twice a week.  Each business has it's own set of stress triggers, which is why it is important to select a teacher with experience and a high level of training so that these triggers can be identified and addressed within the class.  Drawing from her experience and well developed teaching skills Mary will lead your group through a centering exercise to prepare them for their yoga practice.  Mary will then lead the group through a series of breathing, vinyasa (body movements) and asana (postures) and eventually into a restorative and satisfying relaxation.  It's an experience your employees will come to  look forward to  each week.

Yoga can be introduced to employees at any physical level, of any gender and age group.  Yoga is a low impact activity that improves strength and increases flexibility.  Yoga develops concentration, relieves fatigue and restores energy.

The cost for a Workplace Yoga Class ranges from $80 - $120 per on-site class. Fee is based on location, length and other factors.

Additional Information on Yoga in the Workplace:

Workplace stress is quickly becoming the primary cause of lost productivity and employee turnover.  Stressed employees on average cost Canadian businesses an estimated $12 billion every year in health claims, lost productivity and absenteeism.  (The Conference Board of Canada).

The World Health Organization lists stress at work, as one of the top ten key determinants of poor health, and urges corporations to take action and provide programs that encourage and educate employees to make positive life changes through health care strategies. (WHO: The Solid Facts,  Wilkinson and Marmot, 2003)

As a result of this increase in job related stress, the current trend in business is to create a a wellness program specifically designed to address the needs of employees.  Yoga is quickly becoming an essential part of wellness programs because of the benefits it brings to employees and it's relatively low cost of implementation.
